Welcome message from Professor Tim Harries

Congratulations on joining Physics and Astronomy at the University of Exeter. We are delighted to welcome you to our vibrant academic community dedicated to delivering world-class teaching and research.
You have done brilliantly to get here, particularly given the disruption you have faced during the pandemic. Now you have the chance to study Physics at a deep level, guided by our world-renowned experts and using state-of-the-art equipment.
You will be assigned a personal tutor and you will meet them during the Induction Event. They are there to help you settle in to life in the Physics Department and can answer any questions you might have about the course, and can signpost you to any other help you might need.
Look out for events that happen during the year, such as Physics Breakfasts on Friday mornings and Physics@Exeter talks that occur during the term. These tend to be advertised by email – so make sure your University email daily. These are a good opportunity to meet and chat with staff and students and get to know what’s going on in the Department.
I look forward to seeing you at the Induction Event and I hope you have a great start to University life.
