Becca Middleton

Hi, I'm Becca and I'm the pastoral mentor for Physics & Astronomy, and Natural Sciences. 

I am also the Physics Accessibility Officer and the Dept academic lead for racial equality and inclusion. 

As a Pastoral Mentor, one of my main responsibilities is to proactively identify and reach out to students who may be struggling in various areas (health and wellbeing, academic progression). I will reach out and meet with students, either 1:1 or through support drop ins and work together to cocreate an action plan of support. I act as a bridge between academic leads and wellbeing/welfare to connect students with all support services internal and external that might be needed. 

Staff can signpost students to me, students can refer themselves and I proactively reach out, to ensure no students go unnoticed. 

A key aspect of this role, is that pastoral mentors sit in departments as academic members of staff, this gives us the programme specific knowledge to help you suceed in your studies.
