I am a theoretical physics PhD student in the EPSRC Centre for Doctoral Training in Metamaterials where I work with Dr Eros Mariani, Prof Bill Barnes, and Dr Simon Horsley.

Broadly speaking, I am interested in non-trivial phenomena that emerge in metasurfaces composed of lattices of interacting dipoles, such as quantum emitters or classical antennas. The collective dynamics of the dipoles result in hybridized polariton states whose properties depend qualitatively on the nature of the dipole-dipole interactions which are mediated by the electromagnetic environment. My research focuses on how one can modify these emergent phenonmena by manipulating the environment in which the dipole emitters/antennas are embedded.

For example, in recent work we have shown that one can manipulate type-I and type-II Dirac polaritons, tune the strength of synthetic magnetic fields, and induce topological phase transitions by embedding metasurfaces inside a cavity waveguide. 

In 2019, I was honoured to be selected by the Royal Society to represent the UK at the prestigious 69th Lindau Nobel Laureate Meeting in Physics.  Here, I got to meet and discuss physics with about 40 Nobel Prize winners such as Duncane Haldane, Wolfgang Ketterle, and Klaus von Klitzing.

In 2015, I graduated from the University of Exeter with a 1st class degree in Physics, during which I was honoured to recieve two scholarships and seven awards for academic excellence including the Bertie Black Prize for the most outstanding academic performance in the College of Engineering, Mathematics and Physical Sciences (CEMPS).
