Hi I'm George and I am a current PhD student working in the Centre for Metamaterial Research and Innovation (CMRI) at the University of Exeter, having started in September 2023. My PhD, in partnership with BT, focuses on the phase modulation of THz waves for beam steering applications. Using novel metamaterial based approaches for designing RF antennas, we hope to effectively control signals in order to allow communication and data transfer at 6G frequencies.

I have previously completed my master's degree at Exeter, in which I focused on tuning the epsilon-near-zero (ENZ) point of a set of Indium Tin Oxide (ITO) samples and measuring their non-linear optical response as the basis for all-optical computation for telecommunications purposes.

Overall, I have a keen interest in especially experimental work and getting into the lab. I enjoy marrying simulation and experiment to truly explore complex phenomena happening in the real world.
