Interactions between atmospheric layers and deep convection in planets and stars.

Current work:

Dynamical interfaces between convectively unstable interiors and fully-compressible, atmospheric layers are ubiquitous in both stars and gas giant planets. However their representation in numerical simulations is often handled poorly by the use of unphysical boundary conditions or just simply neglected entirely. The overall aim of my PhD is to explore the coupling between these dynamically different regions by attempting to module the two regions within the same computational framework utalising Dedalus (http://dedalus-project.org/).
