Wednesday 28 Sep 2022Dust dynamics and evolution in the ALMA era

Richard Booth - Imperial College London

Physics building, 4th floor 13:30-14:30

The first step in planet formation, how km-sized planetesimals form, remains poorly understood. The arrival of ALMA has however revolutionised this field. By probing the millimetre sized grains that are key to these processes, ALMA offers a unique window into the physics of planet formation. In this seminar I will discuss what we have learnt about how discs evolve, and ongoing work to understand what this means for planet formation.
