Abstract
Our starting point is the following obviously absurd question. Suppose that a large group are set to vote on a yes/no issue - each person will vote (in the usual way, in secret, at the same time) and then the `outcome' is taken to be the majority decision. Each voter wants their vote to be right, but no voter has any idea at all about the issue. How should they vote?
