Postgraduate Researcher

Telephone: 01392 727467

Extension: (Streatham) 7467

Beth completed her MPhys undergraduate masters degree at the University of Exeter in 2016 following a two year research project exploiting the properties of light for imaging in complex set-ups. This project was supervised by  Dr. Jacopo Bertolotti.

Now working on her PhD under the supervision of Dr. Peter Petrov and Prof. C Peter Winlove within the Biomedical Physics Group at the University of Exeter. Focusing on Membrane Biophysics, she studies how the human red blood cell is affected in diseases such as diabetes mellitus. She uses a number of techniques, such as Thermal Fluctuation Spectroscopy, to assess the mechanical properties of the red blood cell and the effect this has on local control of blood flow in the circulatory system. This PhD is funded through an EPSRC grant.
